About the Role

We’re looking for a thoughtful and detail-oriented Technical Writer to help us create clear, client-facing documentation for a custom software application currently in development. This role is ideal for someone who can absorb complex functionality and translate it into accessible, well-structured content for non-technical users. You’ll work closely with our developers, designers, and project managers to ensure the documentation reflects the evolving MVP and supports successful client onboarding and use. If you have a knack for turning technical details into user-friendly documentation and enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams, we’d love to hear from you!

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • Experience writing technical documentation for web applications or SaaS platforms
  • Ability to create user guides, how-to documentation, and feature overviews with minimal oversight
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work iteratively and adapt content as the product evolves

Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Experience working with teams during early-stage or MVP development
  • Understanding of basic software development concepts and terminology
  • Experience writing documentation for medical software
  • Familiarity with version control and Git-based workflows
  • Light design or formatting skills to create clean, readable documentation

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and maintain user-facing documentation for a custom software product under active development.
  • Collaborate with the team to understand new or changing features and document them clearly.
  • Write onboarding and reference materials for clients that cover key workflows and functionality.
  • Help define structure and best practices for organizing documentation.
  • Adapt content as feedback is received and product functionality changes.
  • Coordinate with the project team to identify areas where documentation is most needed.

What We Offer

  • Flexible, fully remote position open to candidates worldwide.
  • The chance to work on meaningful projects and build advanced solutions.

Our Hiring Process

  • Introductory Call (30 minutes): A casual conversation to learn more about your background and writing experience
  • Interview with Programodo’s Founders (60 minutes): A deeper discussion about your experience, and approach to technical writing
  • Paid Writing Exercise (2–4 hours): A short documentation project based on real features.

Stand Out by Differentiating Yourself

We value individuality and excellence. To help us understand your unique capabilities, please include the following in your application:

  • Cover Letter: Tell us about your experience writing technical documentation and why you’re excited about this role.
  • Writing Samples: Include links or attachments demonstrating your documentation work (especially client-facing materials).
  • Personal Touch: Share a specific example of when your documentation helped improve product understanding.

Disqualifiers

Please do not apply if:

  • You cannot comfortably communicate in English (written and spoken) at a professional level
  • You are applying on behalf of an agency or outsourcing firm
